The Asanteman Association of Chicago & Midwest (AACM) is a non-profit cultural and social organization founded to unite and support individuals of Asante heritage in the Chicago and Midwest region. The association promotes the rich traditions, customs, and values of the Asante people from Ghana while fostering community development, education, and cultural awareness.
Membership is open to all individuals of Asante descent, as well as those interested in supporting and preserving Asante culture and heritage. To become a member, you can complete an application form available through the association’s leadership or at community events. Membership may include dues and active participation in association activities and initiatives.
AACM hosts a variety of cultural, educational, and social events throughout the year. These include traditional celebrations such as the Akwasidae Festival, youth mentorship programs, fundraising for community projects, educational workshops, and social gatherings that strengthen unity among members and support the broader African diaspora community.
AACM plays a vital role in preserving cultural identity while contributing to the well-being of its members and the local community. Through scholarships, charitable donations, community outreach programs, and partnerships with other organizations, AACM supports education, healthcare, and social empowerment initiatives both locally and in Ghana.

Overview of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the 16th Asantehene (King of the Asante Kingdom) and one of the most influential traditional leaders in Africa. He ascended the Golden Stool on 26 April 1999, succeeding his brother, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II. He is a direct descendant of Osei Tutu I, the founder of the Asante Kingdom, and reigns as the spiritual, cultural, and political head of Asanteman. Born 6 May 1950 and named Barima Kwaku Dua, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has distinguished himself as a visionary monarch who blends Asante tradition with modern governance, championing peace, education, health, and economic development.
